The Skeleton

Dear Frankie...I am going to tell you all about the Skeleton. The Skeleton is like the Bobsled and the Luge. The Skeleton got its name from the sled it uses which looks like a human skeleton. The Skeleton has competition events for both men and women. Canada was won 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze a the 2006 Torino Olympics. Melissa Hallingsworth is a world cup skeleton winner for Canada. We hope she will do well at the Vancouver Whistler Olympics. She won two World Cup races in 2006 in Canada and Germany. By Miranda

Snowboarding

Dear Frankie...I am going to tell you all about Snowboarding. Snowboarding is a fast growing sport. In the Olympics, one snowboarder performs at a time. In the Olympics Halfpipe event, you have to do tricks to earn points. Drew Neilson, from Canada, has won many world cup medals and is hoping to do well at the Vancouver/Whistler Olympic games. Ice Hockey

Dear Frankie...I am going to tell you all about Ice Hockey. Ice Hockey is one of the best sports in Canada. Canada was won many medals, even gold in this event. Boys and girls can play hockey in the Winter Olympic Games. The word hockey comes from the word hocquet which means stick. Women's Ice Hockey debuted at the Nagano Winter Olympic Games in 1998. Canada won gold. One famous hockey player, Dominik Hasek, played in the Winter Olympic Games in Calgary. By Aljun

Ice Sledge Hockey

Dear Frankie...I am going to tell you all about the Ice Sledge Hockey. Ice Sledge Hockey was invented in Sweden in 1960. Ice Sledge Hockey was first played in the Paraylmpic Winter Games in 1969. Instead of skating on skates, they sit on a board to play. Ice Sledge Hockey has the same rules of hockey but some are different. They have to defend and score. Canada won a gold medal at the 2006 Paralympics in Torino. Paul Rosen is a great sledge Hockey player. He played in the Paralympic Games in 2006 at Torino and also the 2002 games at Salt Lake City...By Euggie

It is 100 days until the Olympics in Vancouver/Whistler. We just received a fancy certificate from the Vancouver Olympics for sharing our story and inspiring others with our blog!
